Test Ride a Recumbent Bike

For many years, Rapid Transit Cycleshop has been the only recumbent bicycle dealer in Chicago, and one of very few in the area. We stock a broad range of recumbents, including Easy Racers (both the Tour Easy and the EZ series), Bacchetta, Rans, Lightning, and Longbikes, as well as recumbent trikes from CaTrike and WizWheelz.
Although some recumbents are available only by special order, the vast majority of them are in stock for you to examine, compare and rest ride.
You will not find many places in or near Chicago where you can test ride recumbents. At Rapid Transit, we take test rides pretty seriously. We believe you should have the opportunity to compare different recumbent models and configurations, so that you can select one that best suits your needs and comfort level. Recumbents require a substantial investment, and we want to make sure you choose the right one.
You can't get a feel for a recumbent by looking at a picture in a catalog or on the web. You have to ride it.
If you are new to recumbents, we will be glad to offer you some initial coaching and guidance. Some folks catch on right away, for others the process takes a little longer (see How To Ride a Recumbent).
Once you know how to ride, we encourage you to take advantage of our extended test rides. You can take any recumbent in the store out for a day or two, and ride it wherever you like (a fully refundable deposit is required).
